How a glass of water will change your life
Do you feel groggy, a bit sluggish or just not the best version of yourself, first thing in the morning? It’s no wonder when you consider that you’ve most likely gone over eight hours without any fluid and on top of that your body has been busy trying to process and repair from the day prior (and possibly working overtime if a few wines & other indulgences were consumed – you’re only human of course!)
Each night as we drift off into our slumber the body gets to work in repairing itself and processing everything from the day and as you wake in the morning the body wants to get of any toxic build up that has occurred and rehydrate itself for another day ahead!
Enter Lemon Water – why you want to make this a part of your morning routine:
1. Rehydrates the body
I’m sure that most people would agree that going a whole day without any water would feel less than amazing so it’s important to consider that the body will be feeling the same after a night’s sleep.
2. Flushes out Toxins
Lemon juice helps flush out any toxins that have accumulated over night whilst your body has been hard at work. The lemon juice will increase the rate of urination meaning we can get rid of those toxins pronto!
3. Balances pH
Yes it’s true that the body will always maintain the ideal pH in the blood (if it didn’t you wouldn’t be here) but it’s important to consider that if the body is more acidic that it will be pulling nutrients out of your bones and other organs in order to maintain it’s pH – lemon juice has been shown to help the body maintain alkalinity without having to ask other organs or our bones for help (the latter is definitely the preferable option)
4. Nourish the Skin
If you feel as though your skin has lost a bit of its glow or maybe it’s a bit dry & irritated then you might want consider having lemon water to start your day - it will help you get back that healthy glow. In addition to fighting wrinkles, lemon water also helps rid the body of the free radicals and toxins that contribute to acne.
Although lemon water exclusively won’t diminish wrinkles it can stop them from prematurely forming and support the skin’s natural balance. Don’t forget that old saying though – ‘You’re only as old as you feel’ so embrace those wrinkles whilst getting in your daily glass of lemon water!
